So my old ass desktop is giving me issues for the first time.
Base spec is
i5 2500k 3.3Ghz Sapphire R9 290, stock 8gb DDR3 1333Mhz
First noticed it would crash when in PUBG - seemed like a GPU crash, image would freeze, sound would continue and then go to a solid red screen. Would sit there for a bit before BSoD, throwing up an error related to ATI drivers. This only seemed to happen on PUBG first so tried a clean reinstall of graphics drivers which seemed to give a tiny improvement.
Now it's happening on everything with 3D graphics but rather than blue screening the system powers down completely. System restore to before the issue has not resolved.
I've ran a few fur mark tests and it seems to crash every single time the card hits 82°c - this is regardless of GPU clock speed, power limit and appears to be independent of fan speed.
82 degrees seems like a really weird temp to shut down at - certainly not hot enough to trigger thermal protection anyway. It seems oddly consistent at this temperature.
Because it's powering down and rebooting I'm struggling to tell if it's just GPU or could be a PSU issue too.
The 3, 5 and 12v values all seem correct.
CPU temperature is fine.
There hasn't been any changes, this just seems to have started after a week of not using the system.
Any suggestions for diagnostics before I bin it and build a new one?
