Okay, for a while my laptop has been running with the fan always on the highest possible setting and the CPU speed is always overclocked. I have done everything I can think of and that other forums have told me.
I have checked the BIOS and checked the system health from there, all the tests were passed even though the computer temps frequently reach 85+ degrees (sometimes peaked at 97) even while simply idling after a fresh boot. I even opened up the computer to check for dust in the fan or something but everything was really clean. This seems to only happen in windows as I am dual booting linux as well but it doesn't seem to get this hot while running linux.
There is a windows update available in update settings but I can't seem to update this. I even went to the microsoft website and downloaded the update remotely but the computer failed to install that. I think this update will fix it but I can't seem to install it.
This is the update: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)
Any help would be greatly appreciated as the fan noise has been driving me mad and I fear the constant CPU overclock and heat is not very good for the laptop. I am in hot weather but even when I run the air-con it does the same thing. The actual speed of the computer is fine and is running really well, including some heavy processor based tasks which the computer handles no problem as usual.
