I’m sure a lot of you reading that title just cringed, I’m sorry about that.

Long story short, I want to get my CD copy of Freedom Fighters (PC game for Windows XP made in 2003) to work on my Windows 10 computer. My problem is that the launcher will load, but when I press “play” an error window pops up which informs me I don’t have Admin privileges to run the game (even though my PC’s admin account is the only account on my PC)

The rest of this post is me talking about what I do and don’t know. As I understand it, I have three options:

1: Run a Windows XP Virtual Machine. 2: Copy the disc’s files to my PC, modify them, and burn them to a blank CD 3: Copy the disc’s files to my PC, modify them, and run them as a virtual disc (I think the acronym related to this is ISO)

I don’t know how to run a virtual machine. I’ve already looked and found out that I don’t have Hyper-V, because I don’t have a copy of Windows 10 Professional, and I don’t want to have to spend more money to upgrade. I’ve looked into VMWare, but I can’t navigate through the website to save my life, and don’t know what to download. Also, I read somewhere that it’s actually illegal to run a Windows XP VM on a Windows 10 (but not illegal to run a Windows XP VM in a Windows 7 VM on a Windows 10), but I don’t know anything about this.

As for the other two points, I don’t know how to rip the game’s files off the CD, nor do I know how to modify them for the purposes of copying to a blank CD or into an ISO file (further, I have no idea whether I have a CD drive that can write files onto a CD). I’d prefer to just create some kind of ISO file and play that without having to buy a whole new CD if that were possible, but I don’t know how to go about any of that.

If anyone knows how to walk me through what I need to do, I’d be more than grateful
