Starting this week, I've noticed a burning smell coming from my desktop. I built it in 2013 and have never had any hardware failures or issues.
Specs:
- corsair carbide case
- i5-3570k at factory clock
- gtx 660ti
- corsair 600w PSU
- 8GB RAM
The smell happens once the computer is turned on, and still occurs during idling. Temperatures during idling are in the 20s for GPU and CPU, and during gaming (Rocket League) are max 60 (gpu) and 45 ( cpu). PSU plug does not feel hot to the touch, and the PSU vent does not smell. The vent from the case does have the odor.
