He is said to spend some “executive time” watching TV and tweeting.
President Donald Trump is reportedly working just seven hours per day — starting at 11 am and clocking out at 6 pm, according to Axios’s Jonathan Swan, who says the president’s workdays are shorter than they were a year ago:
Trump’s days in the Oval Office are relatively short – from around 11am to 6pm, then he’s back to the residence. During that time he usually has a meeting or two, but spends a good deal of time making phone calls and watching cable news in the dining room adjoining the Oval. Then he’s back to the residence for more phone calls and more TV.
The shortened workday includes, Axios reports, plenty of “executive time” — which normally stretches from 8 am to 11 am daily — and is time the president often spends watching TV and tweeting.
That designation also reportedly creeps into his schedule at other points during the workday. (Tuesday’s schedule, for example, runs from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., a workday just over five hours long. Two-and-a-half hours are dedicated to “executive time.”)
The White House’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Axios that the president’s morning “executive time” is “a mix of residence time and Oval Office time, but he always has calls with staff, Hill members, cabinet members and foreign leaders during this time.”
She added that “the president is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen and puts in long hours and long days nearly every day of the week all year long.”
Trump has denied reports of his penchant for tuning into cable TV shows, saying he doesn’t “get to watch much television, primarily because of documents. I’m reading documents a lot.” But his tweets suggest he’s paying a lot of attention to programming on Fox News.
