breaking News: Snowjob! - News Paper-News of the United States was founded in 1933 by David Lawrence (1888-1973), which also started the World Report in 1946. The two magazines are covering national and international news separately, but Lawrence combines them into news reports of U.S. in World and 1948 [1] and Later sold the magazine to its employees. Historically, this magazine tends to be a bit more conservative than the two main competitors, Time and Newsweek, and focus more on the story of economic, health, and education. Alright the jobs report for the month of December is out today. We start of the first week of the new year with a modest gain of jobs. The month netted 148,000 jobs which kept the unemployment rate still at 4.1 percent.
Donald J. Trump begins the new year with record low job approval, numerous scandals and Americans disapproval of Congress.
Holiday retail sales were high but it's not stopping the bleeding. Some of the mainstream retailers are closing up shop.
Sears Holdings is closing 56 Kmart locations. Macy's is closing stores. Toys R Us is going to close stores. Many of the companies on the bubble include Papa John's, Office Max/Office Depot, H&M and the list will grow.
We are at risk of having a retail crisis.
In 2017, there were 2.1 million jobs added. I assume that retail and public sector jobs were left out.
About 94.2 million Americans aren't working. Given they did not include the destructive hurricanes, wildfires and mass shootings. They haven't bragged much about the wage gap.
The wage gap has been more challenging for the middle class. The paychecks aren't huge. And watching the hours and time served, people are happy with their jobs. When the tax cuts take effect, we will see if the paychecks are living up to the expectations the Republicans promised.
The labor force rate remains unchanged as well. About 62.7 percent of Americans are working/overworked.
Okay, here's the reason to why Americans aren't working.
1. DEAD
2. BORN
3. IN PRISON
4. IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
5. IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
6. IN HIGH SCHOOL
7. IN COLLEGE NOT LOOKING
8. VOLUNTEER
9. DISABLED
10. STAY AT HOME PARENT
11. RETIRED
12. QUIT ON THEIR OWN
13. NOT HIRING QUALIFIED
14. NATURAL DISASTERS
15. ACTIVE MILITARY
16. NOT HIRING TOO QUALIFIED
17. LAID OFF
18. FIRED FROM THE JOB
19. DESTRUCTION TO FACILITY
20. OUTSOURCING
So if you actually believe that Trump is doing good, you might be right. The inept leader is rolling back regulations and pushing for tax cuts to get the ball rolling on job growth.
That's a farce.
They say that unemployment for African Americans is at a record low. They said Black unemployment rate is at 6.8 percent.
Many companies aren't hiring Black workers. Many Black people are being either locked up, shot, or discriminated by America's capitalism.
So it begins.
Since the Republicans passed that $1.5 trillion dollar tax cut, we have seen the stock market raise over 25,000. However, there is no change in the lives of most Americans.
As explained in earlier postings, the magic of MAGA isn't helping the American people.
I point to the allegations plaguing Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party's inability to govern. Also, many see Republicans in a negative light.
Most Americans believe Trump is dishonest. That's not good. People are saying that Republicans are overreaching. This could hurt their chances to hold onto Congress.
They want to rehash a legacies of the 20th Century. The era of Ronald Reagan has long passed and the Republican Party is still stuck in that era.
It will hurt them.
