Nunukan (ANTARA News) - Pemerintah Provinsi Kalimantan Utara berencana membeli tiga pesawat jenis N-219 Nurtanio produksi PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) untuk melayani angkutan udara antar kabupaten di Provinsi Kaltara.
Gubernur Kaltara, Irianto Lambrie melalui pesan tertulisnya, Senin meyakini kemampuan jelajah pesawat buatan dalam negeri itu sesuai dengan karakteristik wilayah di daerahnya.
"Saya yakin kemampuan jelajah pesawat Nurtanio ini sesuai dengan kondisi wilayah Kaltara," kata dia.
Meskipun pesawat itu dirancang khusus melayani angkutan udara antar kabupaten di Provinsi Kaltara, Irianto Lambrie mengatakan tidak menutup kemungkinan menggunakan pesawat tersebut untuk melayani Kaltara-Balikpapan (Kaltim) dan Pontianak (Kalbar).
Bahkan dia mewacanakan, melayani penerbangan Kaltara-Negeri Sabah dan Negeri Sarawak (Malaysia. Wacana tersebut, kata dia, untuk memperlihatkan kemampuan karya anak bangsa Indonesia kepada negara tetangga.
Pemprov Kaltara pada tahap awal akan membeli satu unit N-219 yang kontrak pembeliannya dilakukan pada April 2018.
