I recently had a MSI Tomahawk B350 motherboard go bad on me. The computer would just occasionally go black and all sound would go out. I RMA'd the motherboard and got a new one, right away I updated the BIOS because I neglected to do that on the last one and now in the new one everything seems to work fine aside from the fact that I've got no audio in or out.
My microphone does not work, and I can't get any sound to go out through any of the headphone jacks. I've tried reinstalling the Realtek HD Audio Drivers, I've tried updating the driver as 'High Definition Audio Device' instead of the Realtek driver. I have also tried a full software restore from a USB stick keeping no data.
The only real progress I seem to have made is by disabling front panel jack detection in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. When I do this it shows that there is sound playing in the Sound Manager (the green bars next to the headphones light up, which they didn't before disabling the front panel jack detection.) I still have no audio in from my microphone or actual sound to my headphones in the front or rear jacks. I've tried reseating the connections for the front audio a few times, I've even tried leaving them out and just trying it on the rear audio jacks.
The fact that it's now detecting that audio is being played by the level bars in Playback settings makes me think that it's not a motherboard issue, but I'm not sure what else to try.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me out? I'd really appreciate it.
Oh, and by the way, I'm on Windows 10 64-bit. I have a Ryzen 5 1600x, GTX 970, and a CS650M PSU with two hard drives.
