Ok so I recently bought an Alienware 14 (i7-4700MQ + gtx 765m version).
So the guy thought it was totally done for as it was shutting down 4-5 seconds after booting up every time. So i tried swapping hard drive and ram to no avail. Eventually I just tried taking out the battery and using only AC power. It worked !! Laptop stayed on all night and ran fine.
So next I tried connecting the battery while the laptop was running. It recognized the battery in the task bar and began showing the 'charging' animation. This lasted 4-5 seconds before laptop suddenly shuts down even though still connected to AC power. WHY!?!?!?!?! I have tried turning off all 'sleep' or 'hibernate' actions while on low battery but still nothing.
So the obvious culprit seems to be the battery but it is such a strange problem. Why would it still do this even when connected to AC power? Usually battery problems present themselves in different ways. That as well as the fact that the seller told me he replaced the battery recently make me believe it may very well be something else (although I don't know for sure if the battery really is new). Perhaps simply the connection itself or maybe the motherboard? I don't know what it could be and unfortunately I don't have another battery or laptop to test with.
I am attempting to fully charge the battery now and see if that makes a difference but I'm quite sure its not charging. I don't believe this particular laptop has a light indicating that the laptop is even charging or not -.-
So any help would be greatly appreciated :))
