Tried many solutions, none have worked.-News of the United States was founded in 1933 by David Lawrence (1888-1973), which also started the World Report in 1946. The two magazines are covering national and international news separately, but Lawrence combines them into news reports of U.S. in World and 1948 [1] and Later sold the magazine to its employees. Historically, this magazine tends to be a bit more conservative than the two main competitors, Time and Newsweek, and focus more on the story of economic, health, and education. It's also distancing news, entertainment and sports celebrities. [2] an important milestone in the history of the beginning of the magazine is including the introduction of the "Washington Whispers" column in 1934 and the column "News You Can Use" in 1952. [3] [4] in 1958, the circulation of the weekly magazine passed one million and two million in 1973. (wikipedia) [Win10] Interrupted Windows update, now Windows won't boot at all. What happened:

I've experienced that Windows 10 would restart without my permission to complete some update (which has often made me lose unsaved work), but this time, it appeared as if it was a cyber-attack of some sort.

I was watching some YouTube, when I heard 3 USB-disconnect sounds, after which my mouse, keyboard, and configurable gaming keyboard all disconnected. Their lights all went out, I had no control. I was wearing headphones, and they didn't disconnect since I could still hear the video I was watching. Then in an immediate black screen, the PC reboots, and sat there with a black screen and the fan spinning.

I immediately thought that this was a ransom-ware virus that had begun to encrypt my desktop PC after systematically removing my control in order to start up the process. And so I held the power-button, hoping I could stop it before it was too late. I unplugged my Ethernet-cable (because I'm a god damn paranoid turtle) and booted the PC, and was greeted with the BSoD and an error code: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.

The PC restarted a few times, and put me in the Recovery Environment, which is where I've been stuck for an entire day now. Later I realized this most likely was just another impromptu Windows Update (which I now believe to be true, since I by now have gained access to view my files and nothing is missing or corrupted/encrypted)

What I've tried:

  • WinRE, Reset this PC. Chose to keep my files, but "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."

  • WinRE Startup Repair, both from PC and my USB (in which I put a Windows 10 Installation Media). Both created the log-file: System32/Logfiles/Srt/SrtTrail.txt which contained only ONE error out of 20 repair attempts, with the test named "Check for pending package install" and the error code "0x4".

  • Restoring Windows to a restore point, which I couldn't, since there were no points to restore to (I thought Windows created these automatically before every update?)

  • Booting to multiple different kinds of safe-mode, none of which worked since they all gave the same BSoD error.

  • System Image Recovery, which I'm unsure whether will re-write just Windows or my entire PC. There was no image to restore to, so I had to download one from Microsoft's website. But I couldn't get to choose the image file either over network or USB.

  • Booting from installation-USB, choosing "upgrade" to repair the OS without affecting files/applications. But it couldn't do it, because it says it can't upgrade from a USB, and that I have to choose upgrade from within Windows Settings.

Various command-prompt commands I've tried:

  • sfc /scannow, completed verification phase, but output "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

  • bootrec /fixmbr, literally instantly just output "The operation completed successfully."

  • bootrec /fixboot, access was denied

  • bootrec /scanos, scanned all disks for windows installations, but couldn't identify any.

  • bootrec /rebuildbcd, scanned all disks for windows installations, but couldn't identify any.

  • chkdsk, I can't remember the parameters (something along with /x), but it resulted in a 3 hour long scan of every file in the hard-drive, as well as all empty space. It didn't find anything corrupted (to my relief).

I've tried all of the above, most of it via help from tons of google-searches.

I have refrained from doing a complete system reset, since I'd lose all my files. I'm a game-developer and I have a lot of very important files. Only my recent important work is backed up elsewhere, but older stuff and non-major-project files aren't.

I have an external hard-drive which has more than enough space for a back-up of all my files. I tried going into the command-prompt, launching notepad, and opening the file-selection window to get a graphical interface showing me the entire PC (everything is there from what I can tell). I tried to see if I could copy files to the external hard-drive from there, but I couldn't copy/paste stuff or create new folders/files at all. And I doubt the command prompt from WinRE can do any more.

I've been battling this the entire day, and I'm running out of places to look for options to try. So any help is much appreciated.

Windows version 10.0.16299.15

(I doubt all my hardware specs are needed, but if you need them, I'll try to find them from WinRE.)
