Description of problem
I've been using my printer on the local network without issue for over a year now. Windows 10 has the surprisingly fantastic "Searching for Printers and Scanners" thing in the settings menu that would always detect my printer and correctly install the driver. This was fantastic since it also installed the scanner functionality.
Since getting my new router (I know it's a pile of arse, but it's neccesary for >200mbps internet) I've not been able to get the printer to be correctly detected at all. When searching for a printer, it finds nothing.
Clicking "The printer I have wasn't listed" and then "My printer is a little bit older" shows it, meaning it's correctly connected to the network, however this requires a manual driver installation which I've had nothing but trouble with since Epson's tools are awful and also doesn't enable the scanner facility at all. This shouldn't be necessary however, since it used to work without issue.
The printer used to be connected on a WSD port according to the printer port config.
Cause/Steps to recreate the issue
Attempt to add a printer/scanner through the Windows 10 settings menu
What I've tried so far to resolve the issue
Manually adding the printer using a downloaded driver, however this doesn't enable the scanner facility, and also is just straight up more trouble than it's worth.Installing the printer through windows 10's settings menu uses a different driver to the one available on epson's website, however it's impossible to manually use this driver when installing the printer through any other method.
EDIT: After a little more trial and error, it seems like there's something weird as hell going on with my router and WSD. When the printer is first connected to the network, there's a TINY window where it appears in the search box on my PC and can be connected to, though it doesn't finish the connection. Reconnecting it 2-3 times gets it installed and it works perfectly.
Trying to do this on my laptop however didn't work. It's totally visible as a TCP/IP printer, but WSD is just all over the place when trying to initially detect it.
Once it's installed, it seems to have no issues connecting. This is extremely weird as all hell.
