Hello!
I recently bought parts for a new computer and am planning on building it tomorrow. I didn't buy new operation system though as I was planning on transferring the one from my old computer to the new one.
While researching how to transfer my Windows 10 license (that I got through the free upgrade program) I came across some guides mentioned that I might need my old Windows 7 installation discs and product key but I couldn't find them anywhere (it's been heck of a long time since I bought 'em). In addition, my new build doesn't even have a CD drive so I couldn't use the discs even if I found them.
I was able to get my Windows 10 product key and ID by using program called ProduKey and from what I've gathered I still need to somehow made an USB stick to Win10 installer but I'm pretty sure I can figure that out by myself with help of some guides.
My question/problem is, before I go and reset my old PC / remove the OS from my old computer, do I really need my old Win7 production key or is the Win10 product key and USB installer enough to make the transfer? Is there something else I'm missing or should keep in mind while doing this?
