I apologize if this is not the right sub!
I am an artist and when I am away from my computer and happen to get an idea for something and want to remember it, I text it to myself. This has always resulted in a copy that I sent, and another copy coming back from myself- two total messages each time I texted myself.
Today I received a text message from my phone number EXCEPT its area code had been changed by one number. This text merged with the texts that I send myself- and now conversation of messages that I have sent myself for over a year display under this 'fake' number, and then the singular odd text I received.
The text I received said, "Please text me." I have not replied yet because I am afraid it could be some kind of malicious scam, or a way for whoever it could be to get into my phone, but am secretly hoping it is some kind of a prank. When googling for similar situations, I found nothing.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Or do you have advice on what to do?
