Hi all,

I built my PC a few months ago for graphics work and some games - but it has been randomly crashing during games and I can't figure out the reason. For example, Assassin's Creed Origins will just close 15 mins - an hour into playing and just go to my desktop. Other games like PUBG / CSGO will cause BSOD. All these games run flawlessly on my hardware at ultra settings until they crash, and lowering graphics settings etc doesn't seem to help. Its really a mystery and I don't know what to try next...

What I've tried:

Temperature Monitors: These don't seem so high as to be the issue but maybe I'm wrong? My CPU (Ryzen 7 1700 3ghz) under high load is in the 55-65C range, and 39C when just browsing the web. My GPU (Nvidia 1080 Ti) gets up to 75C under high load, and is also around 40C under normal loads.

Memory Tests: 32gb DDR4 2400 GSkill Ripjaws I tried running memory tests for 24-48 hrs because some of the BSOD's were saying it was a memory issue, but I couldn't get them to show any errors.

BIOS: My mobo is an Asrock X370 Killer SLI/AC - I tried flashing the bios with an updated version but it didn't seem to help.

Overclocking: I don't know much about overclocking so I didn't want to mess with it too much, but my BIOS was seeing my RAM as having a 2166 clock speed and I manually changed it to 2400 to match the actual speed.

Windows Update / Driver Update: All seem to be up-to-date.

System Specs:

  • CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700 8-Core 3.0 GHz (3.7 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W
  • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA GOLD 850W Fully Modular
  • RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200)
  • MOBO: ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac AM4 AMD
  • GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE
  • SSD: SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 512GB SATA III
  • HDD: Seagate BarraCuda ST3000DM008 3TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive - OEM
  • Cooling: Fans
  • Monitor: 21:9 Dell Ultrasharp 34"
  • OS: Windows 10 Home Version 1709 Build 16299.98

Any help or extra things I can try would be amazing. Thanks so much in advance!
