I numeri dell’attività svolta dai due fratelli romani, sono stati resi noti oggi dal pm Eugenio Albamonte, nel corso dell’udienza del processo. I dati sono emersi dal lavoro svolto dagli specialisti Cnaipic (Centro nazionale anticrimine informatico della Polizia postale) che, grazie anche alla collaborazione dell’Fbi, sono riusciti a “sbloccare” i server americani dei due indagati e a ricostruire la rete creata su almeno 9 pc riconducibili agli Occhionero.
L’inchiesta sugli episodi di hackeraggio compiuti dagli Occhionero non ha mai completamente chiarito con quali fini i due fratelli carpissero dati: venne ipotizzato che volessero fornire informazioni su appalti, o investire in borsa, o forse accumulare una serie di dati sensibili legati alla sfera personale di personalità che un giorno avrebbero utilizzato in altro modo.
Gli investigatori hanno accertato che i due gestivano una rete di computer (botnet), infettati con un malware chiamato Eyepyramid. L’inchiesta è partita dalla segnalazione al Cnaipic dell’invio di una mail, arrivata all’Enav, che conteneva il virus in questione, il cui codice di acquisto rimandava a Giulio Occhionero.
I due, si leggeva nell’ordinanza di custodia cautelare, “accedevano abusivamente a caselle di posta elettronica protette dalle relative password di accesso sia personali che istituzionali appartenenti a professionisti del settore giuridico economico nonché a numerose autorità politiche e militari di strategica importanza a o di sistemi informatici protetti utilizzati dallo Stato e da altri enti pubblici” come “istruzione.it, gdf.it, bancaditalia.it, camera.it, senato.it, esteri.it, tesoro.it, finanze.it, interno.it, istat.it, comune.roma.it, regione.campania.it, regione.lombardia.it, matteorenzi.it, partitodemocratico.it, pdl.it, cisl.it”.
