On the 19th of December my mac could no longer turn itself on. I tried several methods (ALT+CMD+something-something, 5sec or 10sec press, etc.) but none of them would work, so I opened up the utility disk (ALT+CMD+R I think?) and checked my drive. Turns out it wasn't 'compatible', it didn't say compatible but another word or something. I can't remember and I'll get to that.
My father had a good understanding of these technical electronics, so when he was free I presented him the problem to which he said that he will check on it. I trust my dad. Anyways, so skip to today (or tonight at the time of this writing) and my dad is reeaaaallly frustrated with not being able to fix my laptop. He would bash at me for my incompetency and 'bad attitude'.
Because of this I'm thinking of buying myself a new laptop and inserting the new drive where all my files are backed-up. My dad is almost finishing the process. I'll be heading to the city tomorrow with a cousin and I might get a chance there. I'm just not reliant with myself though. I want to ask his opinion, but... well, you know.
So simple question: mac broke, drive's the reason, do I just back-up the data and have my dad continue to fix it (if he could), or just get a new laptop and insert the drive there? I don't know how these things work! Yes I am stupid, I just need a new laptop ASAP for a project and having my dad continue bashing at me is getting more annoying than a hurtful sentiment.
