My grandmother is a saint, and loves Queen Elizabeth. She's seen one episode of The Crown and wants to see the rest. Before I left the city to return to the country for Christmas, I downloaded The Crown (with closed captioning - she's deaf) and have the two seasons on a usb for her. She's never had a computer before, there is no internet at her farmhouse, but she does have a large fairly new Sony television, which I assume will take usb. I tested the usb on my parent's tv (an LG) however, and it did not recognize the closed captioning so there were no subtitles. Also season 2 downloaded in a different file format and wasn't recognized by my parent's tv, but was showing up on their computer.
I haven't tested her tv yet, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to ensure she's able to watch this show? My parents also live in the country and while there's internet, it's so slow and spotty that torrenting isn't an option. All I have is a usb with these files on it until I return to the city (a couple hours away) - what is also important, is that however I get The Crown to her, she has to be able to view it in THE SIMPLEST WAY POSSIBLE. She is completely technology illiterate - likely I will have to handwrite instructions as to what buttons to push to get the show on, so the fewer buttons, the better.
Have I exhausted all options? What else can I try? Help me help the sweetest grandma in the world watch a show I know she'll love?
