I recently purchased a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO in addition to the HDD I already had. It is not a replacement. I installed the migration tool and Samsung Magician and I get to the screen that tells me to "select unnecessary files on the source disk to exclude from cloning process." Except it doesn't list any relevant files and just brings up a bunch of random files from random folders, some repeating hundreds of times. What I want to do is get my OS, a few frequent programs I use, and some other files onto my new SSD without re-installing everything or backing anything up. Is there a painless way to get JUST my OS and if possible the other selected programs through Samsung's software? If there is a workaround, please explain it in the easiest way possible because I'm stressed and have tried looking everywhere online but have no clue what's going on or why there's no easy way to do this. I haven't actually installed it in my tower, I'm currently just leaving it connected through the SATA wire externally. Will it recognize the drive and make it easier to do all this once I install it in the tower? There's nothing wrong with the drive, I just don't understand how I'm supposed to transfer everything over without cloning the entire drive, which I absolutely DON'T want to do. If someone can walk me through this, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any answers.
Edit: I have experience with my computer and have even installed the OS on two different hard drives for different reasons, all of the parts in my rig are upgrades I made and installed myself but for some reason the SSD is giving me problems I've never encountered.
