Hi r/Techsupport,

In Feb of 2016 during a promotion, I purchased 30 1-month codes for Google Play Music for a price of $5 each. I should have just redeemed them all at once, but was redeeming 3 at a time every 3 months. About 3 months ago, the codes stopped working, and I was greeted with a number of error messages. I reached out to Google, and had a case opened.

50 emails and 5 phone calls later over the past 3 months, and all I have to show for it is the realization that Google has changed their code policy. Apparently Google no longer allows gift codes that you purchased to be redeemed on your own account. After this detail came to light, I have been given the runaround when it comes to addressing this issue. I've been made 2 offers, none of which are satisfactory since I have been unable to use 10 codes. Some other information: I was an early adopter so my current payment is $8/month. The offers are as follows:

Offer #1: 2 months of credit

Offer #2: 3 month promo code, but I would have to cancel my current subscription, lose access to my early adopter pricing, and not be able to use my codes

Each of my emails with them usually ends with a reply that has almost nothing to do with my emails, and includes, "In order to help you better, I have forwarded this information to our specialist and I'll get back to you once I have an update."

Is there any sort of consumer protections agency I could use to file a formal complaint? Or possibly some sort of CC protection for a service not rendered? I'm basically looking for any advice here because I've asked for a full refund of the unused credits, I've asked for them to simply extend my subscription, and I feel like I've just been getting the runaround.

TIA for any advice; I'm just a bit frustrated here and looking for any help.
