Hey guys. Running a custom built PC- 8 gig ram, Intel i5 4760k. Using the lan Port on the mobo.
I recently updated to Windows 10 Creator (avoided for a month or so, but eventually got forced) and it worked fine last night, but today I go to use the computer and I'm getting Ethernet adapter errors. Troubleshooter says I'm experiencing possible driver or hardware failure. I've tried 3 different Ethernet cables to knock out that as the cause. I uninstalled the driver using device manager and reinstalled a driver via USB I downloaded from a different PC. Weird thing about that was everytime I did it it said installation was interrupted due to the existing driver not allowing updates and then the driver appears back in the device manager list. I even deleted the driver from the system32 folder and tried it again. I have also attempted resetting the entire Network settings. Obviously to no positive results.
If I open up the driver properties I get the code 10- device could not start error message. If I dig deeper it says somewhere that an item for the driver could not finish installing. It has a very complex filename. That's the only thing I haven't looked more at.
I'm also getting an issue where 2 out of 3 startups the PC runs incredibly slow. Like I click something and the window won't fully load for another 30-60 seconds, then I click a tab in that window and it also won't respond. I'm assuming this is something I can fix once I get internet back and can go through the Windows updates. Maybe there's one more that needs to happen. But this has frustrated me enough for the night. I'm very close to purchasing an adapter and plugging it into the PCIe slot and just bypassing the mobo lan altogether.
So could this just be a hardware failure or can it be fixed? Plz help.
