If I max out my download bandwidth for long enough, my internet connection will consistently either fail entirely, or drop down to extremely slow speeds (i.e. 10-30 kb/s). The issue is then resolved by resetting my modem. When I go to the modem to reset it, there's no indication that anything is out of the ordinary; all the lights are solid/blinking as they're supposed to be when properly connected.

I'm on Windows 10 with the latest updates, and connected via WiFi with a D-Link DWA-192 AC1900 adapter. My router is an Asus RT-AC1900P. Modem was provided by my ISP, which is Cox Cable. My download speed caps out at about 2.1 MB/s (megabytes, not bits).

When the issue occurs, the WiFi icon in the system tray indicates that it's still connected to the network, but with a yellow exclamation point icon indicating no internet connection. (Unless the connection is merely slowed, in which case the icon appears normal.)

The issue occurs regardless of which application is using the bandwidth. I frequently see it happen when downloading Steam games, downloading large updates through other game clients like Battle.net, downloading large files with BitTorrent, and even downloading large files directly in my browser (Chrome). The problem is exacerbated if I try to stream Netflix or YouTube videos while the download is happening, either on the same machine or on a different machine on the same network. In that case, the connection fails within a few minutes. Otherwise, it can take an hour or more for the connection to drop.
