So, this has been happening since Wednesday, maybe. Whenever I boot up a game, doesn't matter if it's from Steam, or Origin or Blizzard, it immediately shoots my CPU to 100% usage from the game.
And then it's horribly laggy to play, and usually after a short while crashes or BSODs my computer. This only happens with games. Talking on Skype while watching anime on VLC? Chill. Chrome? Chill. Videogame? Hell spawn of Satan and there goes my computer again.

I've scanned with both BitDefender and MalwareBytes, and nothing happened. Computer doesn't heat up particularly before/while crashing.

I've been playing games that should not steal this much energy from my computer. Games I've tested the "Does this make my CPU go weee?":

Origin: Sims 4 (didn't even get past the loading screen before I had to kill the game lest I get another BSOD)

Blizzard: Hearthstone (full CPU usage IN THE MAIN MENU)

Steam: 100% Orange Juice (didn't even get into a match)

Doki Doki Literature Club (several BSODs and crashes)

Hatoful Boyfriend Holiday Star (crashes)

Koi Koi Japan Hanafuda Playing Cards (BSOD, actually the very first one)

These are not CPU or GPU heavy games, last I checked. They all worked perfectly fine last time I played them before all this mess.

Here are my specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.5GHz 3.5GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Windows type: x64
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080

Btw, this doesn't happen with anything that isn't a game! (although, in all fairness, this is not my work computer, so I don't have a lot of useful stuff here). Steam client is cool, Skype is cool, Chrome is cool, Word is cool, VLC is cool. But I try to play Koi Koi with its 2GHz requirement and puff goes the computer.

I think it might be because of the new Windows 10 update (very coincidental) but otherwise I have no idea. Am I asking the wrong questions of my computer to get to the root of this problem? Help, please? Anyone? Thank you in advance.
