For the past few days now, out of no where I have been having this issue with my network performance, where certain connections to servers have completely contrasting pings. In the image linked above, you can see how for Discord, some CS:GO servers, League of Legends and Broadbandperformance.co.uk, the pings are around a constant 110ms on average. Whereas for most other test sites like Speedtest.net (and a lot of others not shown), my connection results are shown as normal, and is what it should really be. I should note that on some occasions in the day, it does indeed go back to normal, but fluctuates very rapidly.
I have done many tests and can definitely confirm this is not related to any device that is connected to my network, and have even done a factory reset on the wireless router. It's very unfortunate issue since it is now the holiday period where we want to relax and play some games without a constant 110ms ping.
My ISP is Virgin Media and have been with them for a year with no problems until now; and can only guess that the problem lies upon their doing. My parents don't really seem to understand as they do not play online games, and to them the Internet is completely fine (which it is for them). I have contacted Virgin Media and they said they are going to have an engineer sent in two weeks (sigh). But despite this, I'm still really curious as to what this problem actually is, and if anyone else has ever encountered it before?
