The remains of a large village dating from the Bronze Age have been discovered in Gränichen (AG), Switzerland, according to an announcement by the Cantonal Archaeological Service.

Archaeologists stumbled upon the remains ten months ago as part of a construction project to build ten rental properties.
The most remarkable discovery was a pit containing many burnt pottery fragments surrounded by cereal grains and burnt seeds, thought to be the remains of a ritual meal.
Settlements dating from around 1500 BC are rare in Switzerland and archaeologists now hope to determine how the village was organized.
