I'm currently on their "Ultra" cable & internet service which when I signed up I thought was the future proof offering. Meanwhile my bill climbs closer and closer to $200 a month and I'm sitting at 35Mbps/5Mbps with Arris equipment I have to unplug to reset every week, normally multiple times.
So it's time to cut the cord and get my internet speeds to modern day levels. I emailed and spoke with customer support for some information bit as he told me their list of compatible modems is woefully outdated and he asked his supervisor to get the list updates the only option that is currently approved for Gigabit is ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 http://ift.tt/2BmQzlH
Does anyone out there have another modem up and running with no issues from their techs during install and getting full speed?
Gigabit won't be available here until Feb. so I will probably start with 500Mbps but I don't want to have to buy a new modem if I upgrade a short time later.
Also any recommendations for a good, preferably affordable router, last one I bought was a Linksys WRT54G 802.11g so I'm out of the loop at this point. Seems as if Netgear has surpassed Linksys at this point. But I'm open to whatever works best with as few headaches after years of dealing with Arris products.
Thank you in advance.
