Hey all, the past 3 weeks or so my roommate and I have been getting crazy lag spikes on all the online games we play across all our devices, happening every 10 minutes or so and it's starting to become an issue.
I called our ISP and they said there's been no outages going on in our area and the modem is showing no signs of failure. They said it was likely our router. Our router is a 2 year old ASUS RT-AC66R. The setup for it has always been the same, 5GHz set to dynamically grab a channel. Changing to a static channel doesn't seem to help us and neither does swapping over to 2.4GHz. Whenever I check inSSIDer home it also tells me i'm on channel 1 and not overlapping on any other neighbors.
I've reset both modem and router multiple times to no avail, I've also swapped out the patch cable between the modem and router to a brand new one. Any advice? and if you think the router could just be dying what new router would you recommend in the 200-300 dollar range?
