Hi, I had installed the Windows 10 March 2017 edition on an ASUS X555LA but the audio controller (if that's the proper name) is not recognised in Device Manager at all. At some point while trying to go through the generic Realtek drivers, the specific ones on the ASUS website, and the ones from Microsoft Update to see if anything works, the audio driver was installed and sound was playing with no problems. I cannot be sure which one worked or why it worked, but it was shortly broken by the Fall Creators Update. As I am aware, Windows 10 also had a problem where drivers ask you to restart your computer, however it has no effect and Windows thinks you haven't. You also received the same notification in the side panel to restart no matter how many times you do. This also happened for the audio driver at some point.
I had reinstalled the March 2017 edition trying to recreate the scenario but the sound device did not show up at all in Device Manager. Now I'm currently downloading the full Fall Creators ISO edition and trying to do a fresh install of it, but I'm asking in advance if anyone has had these kind of problems with drivers before or what you might think be causing these problems. Any workarounds for installing something that works? I don't care about future updates to drivers, so I can disable them. Strangest of all to me is that the device is not showing up at all in Device Manager. I think I was also getting blue screens trying to add legacy software with the audio driver for Win 8.1, so the hardware is somewhat recognised by Windows 10 is my guess. BIOS settings seem all okay for me and I've flashed it to the most recent version.
