We are currently replacing our control system hardware with 10 Dell precision rack 7910 workstations, 2 Dell Poweredge R530 servers and 10 Wyse 5020 thin clients. We use the thin clients is to extend our display from the server room to the Ops floor. I have the workstation mounted in the server room and connected to the thin clients via Cat 6 cable. The Wyse thin clients use Windows 7 embedded unlike the previous Dell FX100 thin clients we used. On the thin client display is has a few apps pre-built in. Citrix Receiver, Ericom Connect Client, VMware Horizon Client, vWorkspace and Remote desktop connection. I’m able to use the Remote Desktop feature and get into each workstation, but don’t know how to configure the other apps. This is a closed network system with no internet access. We run radar control software on each workstation which uses a lot of bandwidth. That’s why each Operator has their own dedicated workstation. So, what is my best option to connect the thin clients to the workstations? I don’t like using the Remote Desktop option because the operators will not remember the IP address associated with each workstation. Even though they are in chronological order 192.168.1.101,102, 103….. Thanks
