To, start I do a lot of video editing. I have a specked out 2017 MacBook Pro and recently purchased an LG 5k ultrafine display, and a Lacie D2 Thunderbolt3 External HD. Ive been struggling with daisy chaining these two. My external HD has two thunderbolt 3 ports on it, so I expected to be able to daisy chain the display to the drive and the drive to my MBP. However when I do this My Kernal_Task CPU usage brings my Computer to a screeching halt. What HAS worked is plugging USB 3 from the drive into the USB3 port on the display, then thunderbolt3 from display to MBP. But if I am not mistaken, Thunderbolt 3 yields faster data transfer (thus smoother video play back when I work off my drive). Am I missing something?
