so I have a new hard drive but no room for it my pc. wanted to know if I can back up/clone all my files and OS [win10] to an external hard drive by USB then replace the hard drive inside with the new one and load the external into it by USB. The problem is I don't have room to clone with both hard drives plugged in internal. Looked around but could not find the answer to this question. most just tell you how to do it with both plugged inside.
I saw something about USB SATA cables that let you access internal drives externally but they don't have the power for 3.5-inch drives through USB. save a lot of trouble if I can just plug it in from the outside
Another option is taking to a friends monster of a rig and load both in there and clone it.
