I was wondering if any of you could help with this problem I've been having:
I bought a used supermicro X8DT6-F along with a matching pair of X5670's, intending to use this as a home server, but I couldn't get it to boot. I tried all of the usual things, eventually trying to get it to do anything with no processor, ram or expansion cards. The only thing plugged into the board is the 24 pin power cable. All of the jumpers are in the default positions, and i'm using a jumper to bridge the power pins, but nothing is happening. If i plug in a network cable, i get the orange actuation light, and after about 20-30 seconds, the BMC heartbeat light starts flashing, but those are the only signs of life I can coax from the board. I have also tried replacing the CMOS battery, but both are registering 3.09V on my multimeter.
Because this seems like a DoA motherboard, I bought a replacement, the X8DT6-A (Its identical to the -F, but it has an SAS controller), but this is doing exactly the same.
As it seems unlikely that I have 2 DoA motherboards in a row, can anyone offer me any advice?
I'm using a 650W Seasonic PSU, and 24Gb of 1333 ECC DDR3 (Tested working)
