I couldn't use my PC after that and it wouldn't respond to force restart button on the case for 10 or so mins, after which it restarted and continued working normally.
This is the first time it happened to me.
I am running Windows 10 with latest mandatory updates.

Aftermarket cooler for the CPU: Cooler Master Hyper 212X
^ these are around a year old, all new
GPU: R9 280x which is around 4 or more years old
Monitor is FX2490HD which I believe is like 5+ years old.
