I have an Hp Probook 4540s that came pre-installed with Windows 7. It recently updated, started acting funny, and endlessly enters the "Startup Repair" that does nothing.
I tried this (http://ift.tt/2rftMTo) method from the sevenforums yet my C: directory shows nothing like the screenshots in the tutorial. I've been told by the head of IT at work I need to reinstall Windows 7 (and upgrade to 10 if possible).
I have the "Application and Driver Recovery DVD" for Windows 7 and 8 home and professional versions of each that came with the laptop.
I can not get it to boot from this DVD. I don't know if it's the correct DVD to boot from, and I am officially lost. I have no important information on the laptop and do not care if it gets wiped clean. I use it for internet, music, freecad, and store everything important on an external hard drive.
I am at your mercy.
