Hi, i've looked on the internet but haven't been able to find any answers...
I bank in the UK with natwest. This morning when I went to log in to my online banking I noticed that the last log in said Sunday morning 7:12 (when I and everyone in the house was sound asleep).
I rang up natwest immediately and we ran through all my recent transactions, nothing out of the ordinary. I check my account regularly and have never seen anything I didn't recognise. When I got through to their fraud team they confirmed that somebody had accessed that morning at 7:12 as well as at 1:30 am that morning and regularly logged on every few days for as long as their 90 day limit showed. It's a different WiFi than mine at home and work - he said it was called 'softway', and said it was a WiFi that big companies use (for example, hospitals, universities).
I'm completely baffled. We've deactivated my online account completely and I'll be using new passwords and pins etc.To log in you need your customer number, pin and password so I'm unsure how somebody had access to all three, and why they would just log in and look at my account - even slightly weirder that it's at odd times at night.
I asked Natwest to investigate but they said there's not much else to say, it's just weird - which wasn't especially helpful.
Does anyone have any ideas? It seems stupid to go to the police as noone was doing anything, but i'm completely baffled and a bit shaken..
