I have AT&T Fiber 100 MBPS internet. I haven't had any issues downloading games, movies, music, streaming Netflix, but I have had terrible game lag spikes, most notably in League of Legends.
I use my own router (a Netgear Dark Knight) that I've never had issues with in the past.
Speed tests routinely come up with 2-6ms pings, 90-100 MBPS download and upload speeds.
As a test, I used the terminal to ping Google constantly over 30 minutes, there were few spikes, pings were 6-13ms almost every time (a few spiked of about 130ms, but we're talking 2-3 seconds out of 30 minutes).
However, every time I play League of Legends I experience terrible lag spikes, ping will shoot from 40ms to 550ms. It happens every game, multiple times, yet my internet is working fine.
I'm at a loss for how to proceed. Either it's an LoL problem, or there's something with my internet that's not jiving well with online gaming.
Any help would be much appreciated, Googling isn't leading me anywhere. Thanks guys!
