I play a lot games, I have an i5-2500k (usually little to no overclock) and an RX480, and a 4 year old thermaltake PSU. Everything was going fine a couple weeks ago but now the pc just restarts at somewhat random intervals with no error or blue screen or anything.
Some highly demanding games seem to work fine but others would crash the pc as the loading screen would finish. I was playing around with MS Paint 3D once when this happened as well. So I'm assuming it's a PSU issue since my GPU runs some games fine at max settings and neither my cpu or gpu are overheating.
So question now is, how sure can I be that the PSU is the problem, can I buy one with the confidence that the issue will be resolved? Could it be anything else? If replacing the PSU is the way to go, what kind of wattage would be sufficient for my pc? Aside from the CPU and GPU I just have an external hardrive and basic peripherals. Kind of on a budget so I'm thinking 450w but I can go 550 if it's better in the long run.
