The is a recently assembled spare parts build that had ran fine for about three weeks working as the the 'Player Two' PC my son and I used while playing games. While playing ARK:Survival Evolved the other day the PC unexpectedly shut down/crashed. On reboot it came up as usual until after the windows logo screen, where the screen went black and my LCD displayed "No Signal Check Cable".
(It's possible there were windows updates done before my son launched ARK, which may have included the updated Nvidia video driver that I know was offered and available in Win Update at that time. But the crash occurred several hours into a "uninterrupted" gaming session. I use quotes because I had paused our Dedicated server with the console command "Cheat SetGlobalPause 1" and we were turned with our backs to our PC's and were chatting while having a snack, but still both in Client and in server at that moment)
I powered the PC back up and after considerable troubleshooting trial and error <edit>(Which includes a clean install of Win7 where the issue returned when I installed the 385.xx Driver)</edit> I found that the system works fine in Safe Mode, where I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers, and in normal mode while using windows 7 stock VGA driver. I downloaded and tried at least three versions (each time getting an older version) of the Nvidia Drivers but with each I get the exact same 'No Signal' issue after the windows logo.
I cannot progress beyond this point.
1.Is it possible to have a failed video card that works in basic 'lightweight' windows usage with the stock VGA driver (for hours on end), but not with the correct driver???
- Are their any suggestions as to things to try?
