Description of problem
I was browsing the internet and opened a new tab. While this tab was opening (it was for an airline), it changed all of the sudden from the blank white Google Chrome loading screen and said something like server disconnected or something similar in relatively small font (I hadn't seen anything like this before). I immediately closed the window.Then, my internet disconnected completely.I wait a few minutes and the internet comes back -- I rejoin my Wifi. Now, I open up a browser window, and it opens up a new tab I did not try and open, and one of the 2 tabs (I think this is a Google chrome message) says "Your connection is not secure, hackers might be trying to steal etc...."I then unplug my router immediately, BUT it still shows I am connected to the same WiFi, the Wifi produced by the router that has just been unplugged. I open a browser and the same stuff happens.I decide to reset my computer (which also finished installing some Windows Updates that hadn't fully installed).Upon coming back to the desktop, the same WiFi is still available but the router is still unplugged.I am afraid to plug back in the router and/or connect to the Wifi (currently using phone's internet). What do I do? How do I verify something is secure at this point? Why is Wifi with the same name as the unplugged router's showing up?
