I know this isn't as regular a Q as this sub gets but I thought it the appropriate sub to ask, can't think of a sub I'd get better answers in!

I've always used my laptops' touchpads, however my newest laptop (Dell e7440) came with a 'trackpoint' stick that you can use instead of the touchpad - I feel like people who use those are getting way more efficiency when processing stuff and if so I want that (of course!) but am just wondering if it's something that'd take so long to learn (and become proficient at) that it's not worth the trouble? Have never used one before, I tried it for a little bit on my current laptop but then disabled it, have been contemplating turning it on / disabling the touchpad but unsure whether it's a good idea, hoping for opinions/thoughts from people who've made this transition (people who didn't learn typing using trackpoints!)

Thanks for any advice on this, and apologies if this is close to 'out of bounds' as it's not a 'problem', I just can't think of any other sub (/r/linuxhardware is my only other thought but it's a worse fit there than here!), am thinking that enough vets post here that I'll get good opinions!
