I'm currently in the process of building a smart home and many of my devices are connected through wifi. Currently I have roughly 9 devices that sit idle on my wifi at any given time, with 7 on the 2.4 ghz channel. Even with no usage, I get capped at around 42 mbps per device on my linksys wrt1200ac. I have 600/50 internet, which I get through lan just fine, and I pull around 300 on 5ghz. That 42 is quite peculiar since 300 (the max for the router on 2.4) / 7 = 42.8. Anyone have any ideas on why the router is even splitting the bandwidth across every device even though they are sitting idle?
