I got an AMD R9 295x2, 1000w PSU. For past few weeks or so, every time I boot my PC up, the fan (on the card, not the radiator) won’t spin. But anywhere from 20 seconds to a couple minutes, it’ll suddenly kick in and start running at full blast until I reboot. Then from there it spins as normal. If I shutdown and then start back up again, the problem will persist, but soft reboots fix it. Everything else works, the power draw is normal, and stress tests on full load run smoothly. If memory serves, a reboot will only correct it AFTER it starts spinning out of control. If you reboot before then, the fan will sit there doing nothing.
What could be the issue here? I plan on wiping the drivers and reinstalling this weekend but don’t have much hope for that as the fan doesn’t even spin before Windows loads. No hardware or software changes that I know of. I’d like to go back to Nvidia but can’t justify a purchase as I only just started a new job after being laid off six months ago and most of my money goes to drugs and general self destruction as I try to hide the wounds my girlfriend left after leaving me a couple months ago. Life is hard.
