Hello.... I'm dealing with loads of potential Ransomware infections, and every time, they come from an infected .DOC that holds a macro. If this opens in PROTECTED VIEW, the user does not get infected. But if they are dumb enough to click the ALLOW EDIT or if they don't have PROTECTED VIEW enabled by default, the macro downloads the payload and starts locking things up. This happens often, and it's always .DOC files that have embedded macros that haven't been tagged by the AV scanning engine yet (BARRACUDA SPAM filter is sometimes late with definition updates). Has anyone GIVEN UP on accepting .DOC's ? If so, how inconvenient is that to your user base? I'm ready to do it but I feel like the complaining will be TOO MUCH ... and someone will eventually order the ban to be lifted in favor of convenience. We preach education and awareness and hold classes to teach people to identify, but people just CAN'T RESIST clicking the DOC ordering them to PAY THIS BILL IMMEDIATELY, or screaming that they WILL NEVER PAY THIS ATTACHED BILL. What is everyone doing? Block DOC ? Or deal with it? Maybe DITCH Barracuda in favor of something else? (The price point is KILLER though ...). Thanks for your thoughts!
