Been dealing with a problem with my desktop. I have my display set to go off when idle for 45 minutes. When this happens, within a handful of seconds, I notice my desktop fan immediately starts getting much louder. Sometimes just a little louder, then it cycles to getting extremely loud, then it settles down and is only a little louder again. It does this until I hit a key or move the mouse to get it out of the idle state and the fan IMMEDIATELY goes back to being normal and incredibly quiet.
Also, when my computer is idle several hours, once every few days it just automatically reboots on its own, and when it boots back up I get the screen that says:
"Your PC ran into a problem. This problem caused your PC to restart."
I thought it might be an overheating with the fans running so loudly. They only run loudly when idle, and it has only ever rebooted on its own when idle. I should also add that right before the auto-restarting happens, the fans get SUPER loud for a few seconds and then boom, the computer restarts. Usually I was asleep or away doing other things when this happened, but to test I hung around so I could witness it happen and that's what always seems to happen.
I have an Asus desktop and am using Windows 8.1. If you need any other specific details, please let me know.
