I needed to extend my wifi range a bit, so I bought an old second hand Linksys router and installed DD-WRT. I set it up as a bridge/access point, since it is connected to another DHCP server in the house.
Wifi speeds are incredibly inconsistent. The router was, by default, set with WPA2-PSK and TKIP. Speeds: 19 down and 19 up (but sometimes 10/6 or 20/30!). I know that AES should be faster, but when I enable AES I get 12 down and 19 up. On my mobile it's even less (4/30)!
How is this possible? Am I missing any settings? What should I try? A lan port on the bridge gives me 80 mbit btw, the advertised speed.
