Got a new hard drive ~2 months ago. Only played one game in that time briefly and got these really annoying frame drops or rather, freezes for half a second. The game will be running fine and then it'll freeze quickly then resume as if nothing was wrong.

GPU is a r9 280x and ran these games fine on my old hard drive. I've checked the hard drive for faults and it all seems ok, no errors popping up. The sata cables I'm using are old but look ok, could they be the problem? I've got free time now and really want to play my games so I'd like to solve this problem asap
