So I have a 7th gen ipod nano, which is basically all touchscreen except for the home button top button and side buttons. I few months ago I got clipped while on my bike (I'm fine) but the ipod in my pocket was totally smashed and bent at about a 30 degree angle. Miraculously, it still worked fine. The only issue was the touch screen, which was now spotty at best, but if you were really patient and used the side button commands as much as possible you could still listen to what you needed to. Until last week, when while trying to select something on the screen, I somehow got it stuck on 1.5X speed. I'm pretty sure the speed options are in the part of the screen that's blacked out, so I can't even see where I'm supposed to be trying to touch it, let alone get it to actually register. After trying in vein for a while to get it back to normal, I eventually resigned myself to just not listen to podcasts, as the music was unaffected. That is, until I had my brilliant stupid idea; the next time I went to sync my ipod, I could simply do a restore to factory settings from my laptop. I did it and it worked great. The ipod was wiped it, I waited an hour for it to sync everything again, and then unplugged it ready to leave for work with some tunes. Only one problem; it asks you to select a language. Now with my spotty touchscreen I was immediately worried about getting it stuck on the wrong language, but it turns out that wasn't even the issue. I can select the correct language ok after a little trial and error, but it won't let me hit the little button that says "done". That one, little square inch of the screen with the only thing that will possibly get me beyond a basic setup screen is completely unresponsive. I've literally been trying for an hour now, I'm super late for work. I just can't let this go. I'm so fucking close and if I can't get past this one tiny obstacle then my ipod is a brick. I've tried all the side button combinations, they do nothing. There's gotta be some other way to get past this screen, right? Is there any way I can do the language configuration from my laptop while the ipod is plugged in? I can't find anything on the itunes menu but I could just be an idiot. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I work as a bike courier, and I kind of rely on my music and podcasts to get me through a shift. I also really can't afford a new ipod right now.
